When I stand before God at the end of my life,
I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say,
"I used everything You gave me."

Butterflies and Lap Trays

Today, I got an automated call from the school district that due to inclement weather (flooding in this instance) the schools were closed for the day. Rather than just watch t.v. I put the girls to work making these little lovelies here.
I found the plain lap trays at Hobby Lobby. They come in a variety of colors so you could even do yellow, red or blue for a boy if you wanted to. I used paint pens for the name and embellishing. The girls love them and have been sitting at them for the past 1-1/2 hours making butterflies and playing with sticker books. Not a bad way to spend the day I'd say.If you would like to make some cute beaded butterflies like these head on over to Just Tutes for the tutorial. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have been wanting to make personalized lap trays for the girls for quite some time. I figure they will come in handy when I want them to busy their hands and craft with Mommy.

  1. Love the adorable little lap trays!!! Great job! I need to refurbish my girlies laptrays, (they have Barbie on them) and now they're too old for Barbie. lol Yours are sweet!

  2. Seriously, are you mother of the year? I think so! I am embarrassed to admit that if I got that phone call from the school system, my kids would probably have been wastes of skin, sitting on the couch all day! I stink at spontaneity...if I'm doing crafts, for some reason I feel like I have to plan for it weeks in advance. The entire concept frightens me!! :)

That's why I'm so happy to have found you. Inspiration!!

  7. Are you in Houston? I am looking for someone or place that will personalize these. I used to get them done by the Learning Express by me, but it closed.
