When I stand before God at the end of my life,
I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say,
"I used everything You gave me."

A gift for a beautiful friend.

My friend's birthday is tomorrow. I already made and gave an altered letter A to her which she is busy trying to find the right spot to hang in her craft room. She was more than generous with my gift (she helps keep me crafting!) and I know how she loves the birthdays to last as long as possible, so tomorrow morning there will be a gift bag on her doorstep with this frame to match her letter A.

Quote of the Week and a correction.

First the correction. It was not a blood test that showed the cancer is gone in Mom, it was a CT scan where the doctors couldn't detect anything. A C125 blood test should show more accurate results. It is not work that kills men, it is worry. Work is healthy; you can hardly put more on a man than he can bear. But worry is rust upon the blade. It is not movement that destroys the machinery, but friction. ~ Henry Ward Beecher

Off for the weekend...

I'm off for the weekend. I am going to visit Mom in Arizona. For those of you who don't know, Mom has ovarian cancer. But it isn't just ovarian cancer. The chemo has caused other complications with the surgeries that she has had and that in addition to being diabetic has caused her to have a terrible time healing. Since the beginning of Sept. 2008 she has been in the hospital with the exception of about 13 days. Her hospital time provided by Medicare is being used up at a rapid rate. The good news is her last blood test shows the cancer is gone and she only has 2 more treatments, then her body can rest and maybe heal. All prayers are of course appreciated. Prayers for Mom's healing as well as for my strength in visiting her. I want to encourage and uplift her while I'm there without falling apart! :)

Other Christmas Gifts

These are some boxes I did for some very sweet little girls for Christmas. They were a huge hit!
Zoe carries hers everywhere with her markers in it according to her Mommy. I told her to use it and abuse it and I could make her another one.

The finished piece...

My sister-in-law sent a picture of the finished piece I did for her mother-in-law's Christmas present. Everything looks better in a mat and frame!

Here's to a New Year!

Happy New Year! Hopefully this year is full of exciting new changes. I would love to see my Etsy Shop grow and be successful. I will also be opening a second shop called Letters by Lanie that will showcase some of my calligraphy. As far as blogging goes, I will be working harder to keep this blog up and maybe even make some design changes. It's a learn as you go process for this SAHM as the kids and hubby must take precedence of course! So here's to new beginnings. I hope the New Year holds many blessings for you and yours!
