I was so inspired by his latest entry Studio Table: The Reveal. It's a blog hop of different artists and their studio tables "unaltered, uncensored, and most likely unkempt".
Yes, I was so inspired, I decided to share mine. Drumroll please... here we go....

"I think my painting days are over." she said, holding my hand.
The words were not strong as her body was ailing. Looking back, it was only two days before she passed. Yes, I'm writing about Mom again.

Coming out of hibernation

Hello! I've been gone from the blog for a while. I have been creating some, but not really blogging. I hope you will bear with this post. It is just something I needed to write to finish off this time of turning within myself.
For the longest time I have been kind of hibernating. I have had an extra child home during the day this week. My Nikki has the flu. With any luck, she will be back at school tomorrow and there won't be anyone else at home sick. Her being home has stranded us to the house, so between taking care of her and Kyle and doing washing and cooking and other household duties, I decided to pick something new to try out to help get the creative juices Lanie Jhttps://plus.google.com/118129143932577555083noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713388245746037295.post-70459724292724067332013-11-18T06:22:00.000-06:002013-11-18T06:22:49.453-06:00Monday musings.... Someone once told me that I should keep it real here on the blog. So here I am keeping it real. This is not a pity party post. No, it is merely me acknowledging the fact that I am petrified of failing.

8x10 Doodle art print by Aimee Dolich at Artsyville on Etsy
Yesterday, I sent an email out to four lovely artists that I have been following for quite some time asking some questions about their process. Aimee from Artsyville was gracious enough to take some time out of her day to share some insight with me. She was quick to respond and I appreciate her kind words and advice.

Do you remember what it is like to be a girl in fifth grade? I do. I remember vividly. It wasn't one of my best years. Something about girls being really mean. You know the age.
It makes me extremely happy that K has a some really great friends. One in particular is A. A is a very kind hearted, yet tough, sweet and beautiful girl that K absolutely loves. They are the best of friends.

I held her hand 3 days before my Mama passed away. She had
been battling ovarian cancer for a year. “I think my painting days are over.”
She said. I had no response because what do you say to someone who will be
leaving this world within days? Those words packed such a wallop for me.

She did it anyway!
Today, I am choosing to do it anyway!
Part of the online art journal course I am taking talks about "doing it anyway". The lesson was about the excuses we make, both real and imagined that get in the way of what we really want. "She did it anyway!" is a Brave Girls mantra.

(It's a good thing!)
Okay, I did it! I jumped in with both feet! This will be the cover of one of my journals for the Brave Girls Soul Restoration class.
I was reminded today how much my soul craves to create. It is what I was born for. It is what God made me for. I was reminded how I feel closest to my mom when I have a brush in hand.
I won't be sharing everything I create for this class, because some Lanie Jhttps://plus.google.com/118129143932577555083noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713388245746037295.post-87027229991120818862013-02-25T12:25:00.000-06:002013-02-25T12:25:19.256-06:00Looking forward to starting Soul Restoration tomorrow...
I have wanted to do an online class with Brave Girls for a very long time. For Christmas, my sweet sister spoiled me with tuition to the Soul Restoration Class that starts tomorrow. You can read more about it here. I am anxious and excited at the same time.
Being wife and mom. I have forgotten who I am somewhere along the way. I had vision for this blog and have lost the vision. As you know, I have a busy 13 month old. I would like to call him a toddler, but alas he prefers crawling to walking, it is such a quicker way to get from point A to point B at this time.
Over the course of the last month, Kyle has had 3 very bad diaper rashes. Usually Boudreaux Butt Paste or Triple Paste will help, but the last rash was a real doozy. I ended up at the pediatrician's office Lanie Jhttps://plus.google.com/118129143932577555083noreply@blogger.com0
