When I stand before God at the end of my life,
I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say,
"I used everything You gave me."

DIY Hand Painted Polka Dot Marble Magnet Tutorial

Ahem... I accidentally deleted this whole tutorial after the first time I wrote it. Operator error I guess. :)

So, here we are again! Super easy magnets to make!

You will need:

Clear marble magnets that are flat on one side.
Assorted colors of acrylic craft paint.
Small paintbrush
Extremely strong adhesive. (I used E6000)
Magnets

Step 1: Using the handle end of the paintbrush. Dip the brush in the paint color you want your polka dots to be.

Here are marbles painted with pink and white dots.

Step 2: After the painted polka dots are completely dry. Paint your background color over them.

Once again, allow the paint to dry completely.

Step 3: Glue the magnets to the back of the painted marbles. Allow the glue to dry completely and you have adorable magnets to keep for yourself to use or give as a cute little gift. Hint: Teachers love them!

They make my heart happy just looking at them!

If you don't want to make your own, I have 4 sets listed in the Lanie J. and Co. Etsy shop ready for purchase.

Happy Crafting!

More decoupage wood letters for a baby boy...

So, I've been nesting and decorating preparing for Baby J.

Last week, I made his name for the wall in his room. It has been quite interesting moving from all things girl to doing crafts for a little boy. But I'm starting to catch on and really enjoy it. I can't wait to meet little man, this is for sure.

Making these letters is very simple. If you would like to make your own see my tutorial here.

Inspiration Friday (6/3/11)

I am absolutely loving Google Reader and checking out all the blogs I subscribe to and follow. There is so much inspiration to be found out there! Check out these fabulous links...

If you have lots of ribbon like me, you can make these cool Ribbon Wrapped Letters at She's {kinda} Crafty!
I can just imagine all the ways to use these adorable hand painted buttons by Katydiddys.

Flamingo Toes shares how she made this cute, cute "Pretty Windows Dish Towel". LOVE it!

An utterly clever use for shelf liner! Make DIY Placemats with Frugal Family Fun Blog.

I'd absolutely LOVE to "accidentally paint" something this cute! Check out the tutorial at Lil Blue Boo. I think I'll try this once we find out Baby J's gender.

I'm pretty sure I could conquer this great keychain tutorial from Amy at The Idea Room. These would make great gifts!

Because I have several years of scrapbooking to catch up on and a long, hot, pregnant summer ahead, I was overjoyed to find this fantastic post full of tips and ideas from Kimbo at A Girl and A Glue Gun.

Another great gift idea! Check out this tutorial from Sew4Home. I'm thinking this would work wonderfully for some cute burp cloths for Baby J.

Can't wait to try this yummy recipe for Eggs Ranchero Brunch Pizza at Stockpiling Moms. YUM!

Ummm... yeah.... this one looks really good too! Passed along to us from allrecipes.com by Coffee House. Looking forward to giving this White Pizza a try!

This year's teacher gifts... handmade, only not by me!

When it comes to giving teacher gifts, I prefer to go handmade. This way, the gift is original and from the heart. I usually have the girls do some investigating into each of their teacher's favorite colors and go from there.

Years past I have made chalkboard flower pots like this one tutorial found here...

... or given hand painted marble magnets in their favorite color like these in my Etsy shop...

...or making a cute clipboard like this one (sorry no tututorial).

But this year, since I am tired and worn out from working on my latest creation right now...

...I resorted to Etsy and look what I found...

They are the cutest bottle cap key chains and I purchased them from an Etsy shop owned by a fellow Texan. If you are interested in buying one of these adorable key chains or another super cute bottle cap item such as a necklace, bracelet, earrings or purse charm, go visit the Bling is My Thing Etsy shop. Katie provided a quality product at a reasonable price and with super quick shipping. I love them and I'm sure the girls' teachers will too!
