When I stand before God at the end of my life,
I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say,
"I used everything You gave me."

A 2nd Birthday Tribute....

My sweet birthday boy.

I blinked. I turned around, and there you are. There you are a big 2 year old. My youngest, my angel, my boy. You are my brightest spot in my every day.

Your Nana told me after I had your sister, that girls are wonderful (this I cannot deny, I love your sisters like there is no tomorrow), but there is something about a boy. And she hoped that someday I would experience the love between a mother and her son. The very moment the doctor lifted you out of my tummy, I knew. I knew and I understood with all of my being what your Nana meant.

Sweet boy, I delight in every moment with you. I wish none of it to pass too quickly. From the moment you wake up you are my little shadow, my little side kick. Your daddy finds it quite amusing how you and I are in the same spot on the couch when he leaves every morning. Me with my coffee and Kindle and you with your juice and your thumb, stroking my arm and cuddled close by my side. I want to remember everything about these days.

I want to remember...

How you sing parts of songs over and over. Like "spider wash!" and "rosies down!" or my favorite "birthdayyyy cha, cha, cha!"

How you love to carry rocks everywhere.

Your stinky little toddler boy feet and nibbling your sweet toes till you erupt in giggles.

How you bounce and run ahead of me then stop turn around and say "comin'?" in your sweet little voice. And oh the smile that goes with it!

The look on your face when you give Daddy big hugs and squeezes.

The way you make EVERYONE in your path smile.

How you do your best to keep up with your big sisters and the way you delight in playing with them and vice versa. The feeling is mutual.

How you have the uncanny ability to wake up at exactly the same time every day or know that it is time to get the girls off the bus even when I haven't told you.

How much fun it is to watch you discover something new. Like just yesterday, you pointed at each of our shadows and said "Mommy" and "Kyle".

You and your sisters are my inspiration to chase my dreams. I can't wait to help and watch you chase yours sweet boy.

You have changed our family in a way we could never have imagined. We love you so much! Happy birthday son!

How to cure a severe diaper rash...

As you know, I have a busy 13 month old. I would like to call him a toddler, but alas he prefers crawling to walking, it is such a quicker way to get from point A to point B at this time.

Over the course of the last month, Kyle has had 3 very bad diaper rashes. Usually Boudreaux Butt Paste or Triple Paste will help, but the last rash was a real doozy. I ended up at the pediatrician's office and this was her recommendation:

Mix equal parts of the following well in a small tupperware container with a strong lid (this will make it easy to carry where ever you go).

Plain Vaseline
Original Desitin Cream
Ilex (pronounced eye-lex and is a burn cream that can be found in most hospital/clinic pharmacies sold over the counter)

Apply mixture to baby's clean and dry bottom. Then apply prescription topical Nystatin (a yeast combatant) on top of that.

I started applying the remedy around 3pm yesterday and this morning his bottom looks about 40% better already. Yay! The doc said once the rash is cleared up just to watch for it to come back, if it does, start the remedy right away.

I am so glad I went in and Kyle is much more comfortable today. Now we just need to work on the teething sore gums. Ahhh, a mother's work is never done. :)

Monday Musings... What a difference a year makes!

Last year.

This month last year, we found out we were having a boy. So exciting!

Last year.

This month last year, we were deep into one of the hottest summers on record for Texas. I was getting big, starting to waddle and was very hot and very tired. I'd do it again to get this end result...

This year. On the go baby!

Keeping up with this little guy is a challenge, but worth every second!

Baby boy is here!

Just dropping in to announce that my little boy Kyle made his entrance into this world a little early on September 27th at about 35-1/2 weeks. He weighed 5 lbs. 13 oz. and was 19-1/2 in. long. He spent a bit of time in NICU and is home on an apnea monitor now. We have had no apnea episodes and his is gaining his weight as he should. There are a couple of concerns with his heart, but hopefully they should be minor or not at all after we visit a pediatric cardiologist later this week.

I am completely and utterly in love with this little tiny guy!

Lord, please help me to live fully in each moment with the precious gifts you have given me. All three of them... Katie, Nikki and Kyle.

Little man's room is coming together!

Just wanted to share Kyle's room. It is coming together nicely.
Sweet bedding is from Nautica Kids. Hubs and I picked it out together.

Sailboat paintings done by me. I thoroughly enjoyed making these!

Window valances match the bedding and are also from Nautica Kids. The desk needs a new home somewhere in the house. I just haven't figured out where that is yet!

Of course I already posted his letters.

See that basket? I've stuck my nose in it for a big whiff more than a few times. Nothing like the smell of Dreft to make you ready to hold a baby!

Now I am having Hubs be on the look out for nautical themed wall stuff that will match. I would like a wooden oar for above the closet (not pictured) and maybe something to go on each side of the window. I think a painting or painted sign that says "Come sail away with me..." would be sweet don't you?

More decoupage wood letters for a baby boy...

So, I've been nesting and decorating preparing for Baby J.

Last week, I made his name for the wall in his room. It has been quite interesting moving from all things girl to doing crafts for a little boy. But I'm starting to catch on and really enjoy it. I can't wait to meet little man, this is for sure.

Making these letters is very simple. If you would like to make your own see my tutorial here.
